MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard)
Manufactured from fine wood fibers bonded under heat and pressure, MDF offers a perfectly uniform, knot-free surface with no grain pattern.
- Characteristics: Extremely smooth surface; consistent density throughout; easy to machine and rout
- Advantages: Ideal for painted finishes and intricate CNC routing; no grain telegraphing; cost-effective for large surfaces; excellent for lacquered panels and detailed moldings
- Disadvantages: Heavier than solid wood; susceptible to moisture damage if not sealed; lacks the natural warmth and structural integrity of solid timber; cannot support heavy loads without reinforcement
- Best Applications: Painted cabinet doors, decorative panels, intricate routed details, and interior furniture components where a flawless painted finish is required
HDF (High-Density Fibreboard)
A denser, harder variant of MDF, HDF provides increased strength and impact resistance while maintaining the uniform characteristics of fiberboard.

Plywood
